I've found this game very addicting! Nice theme and use of HTML instead of an over-powered web gaming framework.
Some observations if you're looking for bugfixes/improvements:
You can't disable a Misc shop entry if you don't presently have as much money as it costs daily, meaning you can't prevent yourself from going bankrupt and resetting to homeless if you don't catch it in time. Instead, you should always be able to disable shop entries.
It would be nice if the various tabs gave you some indication that a change has occurred, e.g., on your certain birthdays in the Amulet tab or when a new job/skill/item becomes available in their respective tabs. So much as highlighting the tab in faint orange would suffice.
Auto-learn and (to a lesser degree) auto-promote have significant delay before activating. Why don't these trigger immediately upon completing a level?
I second Spychopat and Anonymous-02's opinion that auto-learn should switch to the (non-skipped) skill that will complete the soonest, or specifically the skill with the least (Xp left) / (Xp/day).
Clicking on a job/skill when auto-promote or auto-learn is on should either (a) disable their respective auto or (b) leave it on but not update the selected job/skill until its level completes.
can someone tell me what happens when you get to chairman lvl 1k? i've only been able to get to 30 and it takes so long to get back to where you were before after doing the evil thing again.
Really disappointed by the first time 'embracing evil' though. 1.0 evil is too low. First life after that was slow af and nearly killed my motivation to play even with the new line of skills.
Second life though was amazing though. So it's ok I guess.
What does the amulet mean when it says 'After living for 2 centuries' that would be 200 years right? do I have to keep the same person alive for 200 years somehow?
I belive you are supposed to grind out levels in the magic area without using millitairy branches for pay so you do not have to depend on millitairy for pay, aswell as grinding out levels on the magic area in skills.
I think it is better to grind out the military levels until you can get to holy knight or higher easily, then on a fresh run, build up to the high income tier and use the money to quickly raise your mana channeling level so you can move through the magic levels more easily.
not quite, I kinda got bored so I switched, but I am reeealy close, and I will say it does kinda work but you need to grind and drind levels into all teh useful things like bargaining, strength, ect so that you don't have to sit and wait for 4 minutes for one level when your trying to grind out for the magic line. Another thing I found sueful was kinda just having the tab pinned and setting the skill to one that's typically hard. like, for example; Bargain's max level is 30, while all the other skills have max at lvl 75+, so I place my skills training on bargaining for one full run and go like that until i'm satisfied, then do a few true runs micromanaging all the things. Rinse and repeat. It can get tiring and repettitive so idk if that's the best way to do the level grinding instead of just playing the game slightly different each time (which, I'm sure is the intended way for you to play the game) to get a couple of levels higher than the max level.
Ok... After reading your comment (and having only 1900 evil...) I stop playing fairplay. I've hack the game, putting a very lot more of evil than you have (60 000 000)...
Even with that and 2 rebirth it wasn't possible, and really far from the end goal ... I don't know how many rebirths I would have to do. Evil don't help so much in high skill lvl.
Since I just want to know what was that last skill I just put the lvl1 chairman to 1xp...
And the result... the skill you unlock with 1k chairman... useless and don't had anything to the game...
Sure, the end game is very bad. I feel like it should end without the 1k chairman skill. Setting that skill with such a restriction was an error from the dev but putting this part aside the game itself was pleasant.
At least, in that game's category I don't know a lot that's better than this one (in comments bellow some people talk about Groundhog Life, I will try it)
The only regret that I have is that you can only play with military job. At first I was thinking to switch to magic job but income from that job isn't enough so you levelup them only to unlock skills then switch back to military.
Great game! I loved how the Timewarp skill unlocked just as I was thinking "I'd like some way to speed up the game". Unfortunately I think that's not enough, even with this skill there are times where I would want to reset early rather than grind a few more levels over the course of a decades.
The shop system seem a bit weird, why would a dumbbell has a higher upkeep than a book? It is just a piece of iron/lead, the only maintenance it need may be some paint? And how is keeping a desk more expensive than a butler?
I think the items from the shop, like the books, dumbbell and desks, should have a higher price, and once you buy it, you have it forever. And servants should count separately from inanimate object, and take wages as long as you hire them like it is now.
You could also ask "how is it possible to extend your life by studying immortality?" Some things in this game aren't based on the real world. The system makes perfect sense the problem is you're relating the naming of things to how they are in real life. Don't think like that, it's just a game and the naming is there to simplify things.
if this gets 10 upvotes I will stay homeless in game, until the age of 70 in game. If this gets 50 upvotes, I will do anything you guys want me to do (regarding this game of course).
Hey, just a couple suggestions from what I see just starting the game. I would like more information on the prestige system/amulet. It would be nice to see the xp multiplier and whether it is accumulative or if it stays static if you haven't beaten your previous max. Also, maybe add a page or point system to the prestige other than the xp bonus so that it is a tad more interactive and you can choose perks/powers to help you in your further prestige runs.
I've played quite a few incrementals in my time but, if you're willing/motivated to upgrade and continue developing,
I think this could be one of the top ones out there: simple, to the point, but with enough depth and complexity to keep you captivated.
That said, the Age/Amulet activation makes it a very tricky situation: you have to keep people interested enough before they die naturally.
A few early suggestions:
Just for fun, it would be nice to see a cemetary/archive of previous characters: age, job, wealth, happiness, etc.
also, seeing that age plays a big part in this game, it would be nice to see how long we have spent in each job.
reiterating some comments below, a smart-learn option would be cool so that, when upping a skill to reach the next job, it would be cool if the skill learn stuck to the one necessary
Much further down the line, and if this is of any benefit to your end-vision of the game, it would be cool to see a progression tree that could be programmable
As mentioned below, the concept of Good/Evil could be interesting re how you want to concentrate your character Evil=Money, Good=Happiness
Besides common and military, if you're going for the whole D&D/Fantasy idea, it would be nice to see other classes: Thief/Rogue, Cleric/Priest, etc.
Besides Jobs, Skills and the Shop, another way that could be interesting to really flesh out the game could be acquaintances: Friends, Enemies, Networks, Guilds, etc. This of course could add whole story line opportunities to the game.
One final thought on jobs: it might be cool to have several different paths in the "common" work: agriculture, mining, merchant, etc, with several different levels of progression. Each one of these paths could have a set of benefits/attributes that would allow people to concentrate on one path or jump around in order to evolve a specific "hybrid" job.
... Having played a few lives now,
I think that there is a very strong underuse of the earlier skills compared to the later skills. Moving forward, Mana Control, Battle Tactics, and (earlier), Strength become blatant focus areas and the previous skills become completely redundant even though they were key at first (Concentration, Meditation)
On the Military path, the time/pleasure ratio drops to rock bottom after we pass Veteran night. It becomes a simple surveillance/waiting game, just making sure that we don't die before we level. Hence my points above of more story/side quests/events to keep people interested.
Ok, apologies if I've gone too far in all these suggestions, but this has inspired me to think of all the things I'd love to see here.
Really cool concept, but I think prestige is too slow, I've just unlocked magic and realised it's going to take A LONG TIME before it's worth it. Perhaps unlocking a new tab with a skill tree to improve prestige speed?
The Holy part, so you could choose what path to go each time, the difference between Evil and Holy would impact something, like for example - if Evil is greater - get multi for Pay\Expenses, if Holy is greater - get multi for Exp/Happiness.
Make Auto-learn choose the fastest to learn Skill - (Exp Left)/(Xp-per-day), currently it is a lot of clicking on checkmarks (once you get more Evil points - Evil skills go significantly higher and we need to switch to learn them).
great game almost chairman to 1k cant wait to see what unlocks next.... is there a good option as well as the evil or is the evil and the chairman the end of the unlocks?
QOL: Could you please make it so that only the primary sub-window scrolls? (currently the pause button on the status sub-window could easily be scrolled away if you need something at the very bottom of the primary sub-window)
haven't played this much yet (just got to age 31 and have decided to focus on Common work for this first loop around), but this feels like the exact kind of Idle game I've been looking for; it has a very nice sense of exploratory curiosity, and a great laidback general atmosphere that really appeals to me.

A new, by that time completely pointless, longevity skill.
ahh, ok. thank you
Super inmortality, it increase your lifespan to like 5000
can someone tell me if job Xp counts toward military work
Job Xp count toward every job you can make including military
i have spent too long on this game...
still playing...
god
Great concept. Good game.

the 1.0 evil is to unlock the evil, which boosts you A LOT later on
What does the amulet mean when it says 'After living for 2 centuries' that would be 200 years right? do I have to keep the same person alive for 200 years somehow?
you are right but there is this thing called immortality from being a level 10 apprentice mage
I can't even get to apprentice mage 1
When you restart with the amulet you will get multipliers to what you've learned, you just need to keep playing
i cant seem to get past the first job in the magic stuff am i doing something wrong

Disclaimer: I have not tried this method yet
I may try it out, that's a good idea
did u do it?
not quite, I kinda got bored so I switched, but I am reeealy close, and I will say it does kinda work but you need to grind and drind levels into all teh useful things like bargaining, strength, ect so that you don't have to sit and wait for 4 minutes for one level when your trying to grind out for the magic line. Tried it, it gave me a head start but I'm down to grinding the apprentice mage levels now. (which takes forever)
yeah, it is a pain, but from the current 'formula' that I have and the game has, It'll get faster sooner rather than later.
This game is one of my favorite games! Is there an app out there for this?
i wish that auto learn would switch to the skill that requieres the smallest amount of XP, instead of the lowest level
Open Source?
Is the export/import system broken? it keep on resetting to the start
Ahem... I'm at 12272 Evil and still no light at the end of the tunnel... it's truly possible to win this game?
Ok... After reading your comment (and having only 1900 evil...) I stop playing fairplay. I've hack the game, putting a very lot more of evil than you have (60 000 000)...

Well, thanks for saving me time... what a waste of a game.
I don't feel like this.

Can you post a screen for me with the final ability unlocked, please? I'm not able to hack a game.
No problem:

Imagine spending I don't know how many hours/days/weeks/months... to finally unlock that....
You've obviously not played many incremental games then. That's kinda the point. There's very rarely--if ever--a real "end".
You've obviously didn't understand his comment...
Alright i know its been some time ago, but can i have import file??
hi can u make one with 5x every thing
Great Game! I'd recommend a later upgrade for a second learn slot. I'd like to upgrade bargaining and concentration!
Eu adorei o Jogo, tem uma ótima progressão, quero muito ver mais novidades e atualizações pra ele

Job apprentice mage lvl 10
Achievements would be interesting to see. Example: Unholy Knight, reach the Holy Knight job with Evil.
I'm not given an option when my age catches up to me. I really have been enjoying the game so far and would like to keep playing. How can I fix this
Click on Amulet
This is the first idle game I've ever played and I really enjoyed it – well done.

I second this

I very much enjoy this game :)
Is there any point to the 'common' jobs other than the first little bit of the game before you get your first military job
if this gets 10 upvotes I will stay homeless in game, until the age of 70 in game. If this gets 50 upvotes, I will do anything you guys want me to do (regarding this game of course).
does -10 count for anything
-10, or -50 are the alternatives.
"-10 and i will stay in the richest house and -50 i will do the opposite of whatever u guys want me to do"

Looks like the same thing as Groundhog Life (https://www.kongregate.com/games/egosummo/groundhog-life)
Seems a bit more interesting with the different theme though.
Really love the concept of this.

Option to Auto-pause on going bancrupt.
great game almost chairman to 1k cant wait to see what unlocks next.... is there a good option as well as the evil or is the evil and the chairman the end of the unlocks?
unless u have like 100k evil chairman is impossible to get to 1k
agreed, there are much too many gaps in shop and skill opportunities, making the journey to 1k Chairman very painful and soul-killing
light mode: exists
Huh. I wonder what that's like.
Flashbang*
Looks like a reskin of Groundhog Life. Going to play it through to see if there are any improvements or differences anyway.
QOL: Could you please make it so that only the primary sub-window scrolls? (currently the pause button on the status sub-window could easily be scrolled away if you need something at the very bottom of the primary sub-window)

Awesome work overall, thanks for the game! :)
Could you please add the auto-promote/auto-learn/skip-skill settings to the save? (had it set up to skip magic, but it was re-enabled on reload)
Enrolling in the magic academy is a lot enrolling in college... it puts you in a lot of debt.
Could you add an option to set auto-promote to wait until a specific max level has been reached? (or is this in the next level of prestige?)
Absolutely great game glad to see it on itch
